China Condemns U.S. Pentagon Blacklist of Major Chinese Firms, Calls Move Strongly Discriminatory

China has expressed strong dissatisfaction after the United States added several large Chinese companies to a Pentagon list of firms allegedly linked to the Chinese military. According to China’s Ministry of Commerce, the decision is politically motivated and undermines normal economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

The Pentagon list identifies companies that Washington claims provide support to China’s military modernization efforts. Inclusion on the list can restrict access to U.S. investment, technology, and financial markets, increasing pressure on already strained bilateral economic relations.

Beijing rejected the allegations, stating that the companies operate independently and comply with international market rules. Chinese officials argued that the move reflects a broader pattern of U.S. “overreach” and the politicization of economic and technological competition.

The ministry further warned that such actions damage global supply chain stability and erode trust between major economies. It also urged Washington to correct what it called “wrong practices” and to stop using national security as a justification for trade restrictions.

The development comes amid ongoing tensions between the world’s two largest economies, where issues ranging from technology access and security concerns to trade barriers continue to fuel strategic rivalry. Analysts say the move is likely to trigger further countermeasures and deepen economic decoupling trends already visible in critical industries.
